Michael went to Oahu when he has a Senior in high school,
So he knew ahead of time some of things he wanted us to do and places he wanted us to go.
We also scoured the internet for suggestions and ideas.
We could have spent weeks exploring, but we were able to cross off most of our wish list.
One thing Michael definitely wanted to do was snorkel. I wasn't too thrilled.
I'm not a big fish person, and the fear of being under water with them was a little intimidating.
But, Michael calmed my fears and convinced me to go. It was pretty amazing.
We went to Hanauma Bay, which is one of the more popular snorkeling spots.
An employee suggested an area for us, and we were lucky to see so many beautiful fish.
(A few scenic views after our snorkeling adventure: Chinaman's hat)
(The mountains were incredible)
We took a small detour on our way home from snorkeling and checked out Chinatown.
I loved walking around and seeing all the vibrant and beautiful colors.
While there: I got my pedicure fixed, we drank a mango smoothie with black tapioca pearls (interesting) and we picked out t-shirts for our kids and my niece.
Several nights, we would come back from a long day of exploring, and walk around Waikiki.
There were always bands playing or street performers and fun restaurants to eat at.
We walked by these birds, and Michael could not resist them.
I was extremely hesitant, but the guy was GOOD! He eventually convinced me to join in the fun.
(Beautiful waves and sunset)
The fresh mango's and meat kabobs from this food stand were delicious.
We enjoyed it all, while watching this artist paint using spray paint and kitchen utensils.
He was such an entertainer and his finished product was incredible.
We spent the next morning at Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial.
It's difficult to put into words the emotions that the memorial evoked.
We learned so many new things about the war over the Pacific and how it all tied together.
This terrible American tragedy ended up unifying and strengthening the country.
(USS Missouri was moved to Pearl Harbor. The Japanese surrendered on the deck in Tokyo Bay)
(Over 2.3 quarts of oil still leak from the hull every day)
