Dear Max: Five and Six Months

Dear Maxwell,
I love you more and more every single day.  You hold such a piece of my heart.
I love your smile.  I love your giggle.  I love your eyes.
You have such a gigantic toothless grin.
You don't have any teeth yet, but we're wondering...I swear you've been miserable for months now.  I hate when you pull at your mouth and scream in pain.  You poor, sweet thing.
I love your chubby little writs, your chubby ankles and chubby legs.  You are a solid little square.
You are standing up straight now and your legs are getting stronger and stronger.
You love to kick.  I love when you're laying down in the bathtub and you kick your legs.  The water splashes up all over your face and you just smile and laugh like it's the most exciting thing all day.
Which it probably is.
You are sitting up now and it makes you look like such a big boy.
I love how you flail your arms and legs when lying on your stomach.  You almost look like you're skydiving.
You love to suck your pointer finger.  It's kind of funny that you've chosen that one, but it soothes you just the same.  It's really quite adorable.  Although it gets in the way sometimes.
You recently slept through the night for 12 hours.  It was unbelievable.  I checked on you several times to make sure you were alive.  I thought it might be a fluke.  And as I predicted, it was.
Daddy finally convinced me to give you some rice cereal.  I'd been delaying it...You've only had it a handful of times and we're still working on the whole eating/swallowing thing.  I hope you figure it out soon, because there are much tastier things out there than rice cereal.  Although your sister thinks it smells good.
Your getting better about putting yourself to sleep.  It's nice because I never mastered that with Kathryn.
Your big sister loves you so much.  She loves to read to you, dance for you, sing for you and wipe your nose for you.  She loves to greet you in the morning and shower you with kisses.  You are her favorite toy!
Sometimes you can be so serious and I wonder what is going on in that adorable head of yours.
You are quite the charmer with your infectious smile and twinkling blue eyes.
We love when you grab our faces and give us open mouth kisses.
Your head is still as bald as ever.  I LOVE it so much.
Maxwell, we all love you to pieces.  You are such a sweetheart and a perfectly perfect baby.
Love,
Mommy
