To My Mother

Happy Birthday to my dear, sweet mother, who is sixty-nine today.
Currently, she and my father are in Mexico, basking in the sun and riding their fold-up bikes.
She gave birth to seven children, four of which were girls.
And every single one of those girls wanted to grow up and be a mother like her.

She (was) and is an amazing mother and a devoted grandmother.
She has led a life of compassion and service.
She took care of her invalid mother for years, eventually bringing her to our home where she passed away.

She taught me everything I know about singing.
She drove me to ice-skating lessons, which was an hour each way, two times a week.
She is patient and loving.

She was ahead of her time on the glass jar, green living and composting revolution.
She has an eye for decorating and design, and she wallpapered her entire Georgian style home.
She loves to learn about new things, and she makes the best vegetable soup.
I love you mother dearest (She's the young lady on the far left).  I hope your day is special.
